My CRX keeps backfiring...repeatedly. I have a d16y7 in it.
When I let off of the gas you can hear it backfire, it almost sounds like it's bubbling.
And when I accelerate, once I'm in 4th gear, my motor starts to become really jerky and starts to stutter.
What's wrong with it? Any ideas?

Also, no check engine lights.
But when I was driving today the light did come on. But when I started my car later in the day no light.

What would be the first step in trying to solve this?
Replacing the oxygen sensor?

I just tightened the cap, it was rather loose. But other than that everything seemed fine.
The plugs are pretty new.
We'll see if tightening eveythig helped.
