need to read the rules again needing teg help!

Post by negrotegro97 »

hey first time ricer here.... So i gotta 97 teg with the b18c1 and i just replaced the head on it and got everything hooked up and ready to go, car is timed correctly and double checked. But the car is having trouble idling, and will not idle under 1500rpm... So is this a problem with the ecu needing to relearn engine codes? And with these cars do you have to drive them in a special sequence for the ecu to relearn the engine codes?

what are you talking about? when the engine is cold it will be around 1500 and gradually go down when it is warmed up. have you checked with the idle screw at all?

EDIT: your name on here kills me!!! lololololololol

Check the idle screw on the throttlebody and try tighting it up a bit. It looks like a 1/4 inch wide flat head screw.

X2 that's freaking funny... cleaver sn

when cold my car idle at 1500, but warm its at 800 to 900.. but I got a b18B.. but what Hondachild aka youngin, will probably fix your problem.. unless your ECU needs to be reprogrammed.

i but once it starts going below 1500rpm it would like sputter than pop and stall out... It's almost like the ecu has but the car into a safe mode? i won't go into v-tec either. when you rev it up it will hold steady at 4800-5000rpm and thats it. the car has been sitting apart for a few years b4 i picked it up and put it back together? So if thats log enough where the ecu might need to be reprogrammed?

but the car ran great b4 the head gasket blew off... i'll try the idle screw, but i don't think thats what it is... i'm gonna swap all the old/good to my knowledge v-tec solenoids
