From there if you want to go to Sonic on Elm, take the River Road south through Alton, Clark Bridge(367) to 94(first stop light), make a right. That'll take you through West Alton - Boschertown to 370, then one exit west to Elm.
Just a hint.
Meeting at the Piasa Bird thing works well as the whole group can merge onto the River Road as a group.

I'll put it in different terms:
Take the first road til it ends at a red, 8-sided thing with the letters S-T-O-P in white and halt your chariot incase there are passers-by passing by. When the coast is clear, turn the top of your steering wheel towards the side of the car you are sitting on(does not apply properly to Jake's CRX) and carefully motivate your car onto your next path.
Meander on this venture til you reach the river crossing erection. Diligently drive over til you reach a similar situation as your last intersection, but this time turn the other way.
Putz along this avenue until you see indication for a ferry in the quaint town of Kampsville. When the vessel has docked and a brightly-clad gentleman motions, board your automobile. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the beautiful Mississippi river as said vessel navigates a track underwater til docking on the opposite bank.
When advised, debark said vessel and motor down this boulevard til you reach your first crossroad and veer starboardly onto this ribbon of asphalt. Through the woods you go til you end up facing the river. Turn portward onto the road you were previously on at the beginning of your journey...
