We should do this before May, when the weather is still in the 70's or something.
“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” - Bruce Lee
"In the spring you will bloom like your heart through the glass in the back of the ambulance. You turn and you turn and you turn down the street, one more turn, won't you come back to me? And as it turns, the red lights, they were turning into red roses, red roses. Red roses. I'm not giving up." - Steps Ascending by Thursday

Cash IMO is better, but why don't you divvy it up? Required is a cash donation OR let's say 5 canned goods to donation. Canned goods are obviously cheaper than a donation. Hell, I'm willing for both. That way Red Cross can utilize the donations how they see fit.stolle;259774 wrote:i dont like the idea of making people pay to park just cause, i dont want them to feel like they have to give something. yes there is still a pay pal link at the top of the page. im thinking of getting a food truck it will simplify things and they may give us some kind of break since the event is for a good cause. you can pm me about the reps, im curious.
thanks!
Obviously not everyone will donate, that's a given. But give the option for others who are willing/able/want to help.
Clothing is also a good idea. I know my roommate's store is donating 100% of their online sales to Japan, but anything can help.
Finds it funny you (all) check my profile multiple times a day. Get a life.

Depending on when you wanted to do this I could get the parking area at the Mall for it. I'll be with Jim tonight I can bring it up to him again and see what he thinks. He will probably want a date though on when you want to hold the event.stolle;259781 wrote:waiting to here back from a place that can provide food and a large parking area. im not getting my hopes up though, we shall see.
One thing I do know is there will be more then enough room there inside the garage or in the front lot either way I don't see it being a problem at all.
Food however will probably have to be on someone else but I can probably get the location on lock.

I'm definitely in for this.
Crestwood doesn't sound too bad. It's practically a dead mall, so in a sense, this meet/event can help bring some attention back. That and it's not that far from me XD
Maybe see if we can talk to some dealerships and see if they might want to help out? Ideally, talk to them to see if they can help provide something such as merchandise (t-shirts, mugs, caps, etc.) or coupons for OEM parts and/or accessories or something. Would work in their favor a bit since they get to advertise, attract some business, and whether they really intend to or not, help the cause. Just a thought at least. Might even help promote the event to a wider audience if we want to reach out as far as people that aren't really car enthusiasts.
A fall-back on the dealerships would probably be some local shops in general like body shops, detailers, mom & pop shops, etc. Who knows, maybe see if we can get something going like on-site dyno runs (assuming funds permit it/there's someone in the STL that has a mobile dyno).
And if this is going to be as big as I think it sounds, a chance to let local, indie bands/DJs/etc. show off and provide music? Ideally, we find people that wouldn't mind doing it for free, but considering real world business, might have to ask around and see how much we would need to raise to hire them for the event.
I have a feeling most of these thoughts might get chucked out, but hope to at least inspire some other thoughts that might help make this event a blast for everyone while drawing in more interests to help with the fundraising.
