overfilled coolant

Post by Tyler »

i mistook a shadow for the coolant line and overfilled the coolant a lot. almost filled the resivoir. now the car is overheating again. and it just started after i did this. i googled it and from what i read the coolant might overflow, but isnt gonna mess up the motor or anything, but it doesnt seem to be doing that. would this be the reason for the overheating? im taking mom's car to wal mart to get a turkey baster and syphon the overflowed amount out right now. but im just wondering if this is gonna fix it or if it would be something else causing it to overheat.

i just dont know how it would be overheating because it had been running fine. i drove it up to wal mart and while i was there, decided to check the coolant and it was low. i drove it to my house a couple miles away, and then filled it up, and by the time i got to my new house, about 1 mile from the old one, it was starting to overheat......

im so confused now. i was gone for about 20 min. i get back, and the motor is still warm, but all that coolant is now gone. there was no coolant leaked anywhere. the car now wont overheat though. i filled the line up a little higher than min and am gonna check it when i wake up tomorrow. idk if when it overheated last time if it all was spewed out, but then it should have overheated since then if it were low on coolant, even though i have filled it up twice since then. but idk. this has me baffled. anyone know something i dont?
