ok i did the mini me, i also updated ecu's to run the vtec. its all up and running but i threw a check engine light. New ecu isn't like the old one with the light in the ecu itself that flashes. Someone told me a while back to jump the harness in the passenger footwell, that you jump when setting timing. (does that thing have a name?) but nothing happens. any ideas???

WHAT YEAR? im assuming a obd0 car and im assuming you are using a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness correct? there should be a wire on the conversion harness that is used to ground to get the check engine light to blink the codes.stlsupra;116163 wrote:civic, p28

oh crap i was thinking my cars were in my sig. they wern't but will be soon....
yeah car body is a 90. i know about the harness thing in the passenger footwell but nothing happens when i jump it. i'm gonna put my multi meter on it and see if its grounded with the jumper. any idea which wire it is at the harness so i can check there as well? i might as well wire my own switch in at the ecu to make this easier to check and set timing etc....

i'll finish this thread with the answer to my culprit. i'm a dumbass. i am using a rywire odb0-odb1 ecu jumper and its got its very own service connection wires that you can wire up to a switch. duh no wonder the stock connector wasn't working... quick trip to radio shack and bought a 2 dollar switch connected it all up and voila. codes are flashing. which if your curious it was a speed sensor code which i already knew was a problem due to the speedometer not working...
and with this i officially just put 20 miles on my new engine. code free. but i think i still have some timing issues.

thanks,
didn't see that reply until i already figured it out.
I'm assuming for odb1 ecu's you still need to short the service connector when setting timing? i short it and the timing really doesn't change at all???
