car wouldn't take a jump

Post by dclduke »

So my battery went dead. I know why but thats not why I'm posting. So I went to jump it and it wouldn't take a jump. No power anywhere. Checked all the connections, checked the fuses. Everything was good. Put the cables back on(and left them on from then until it started) and still nothing. Sat in the car getting pissed off when all of a sudden, power. Hesitated to start but did after a few slow cranks. Now it starts just fine. So why would it have absolutely no power, then bam, power?

some times you can get a bad connection on the inside of a connector even though its tight, materials will get what is dubb'd current burn where it will look fine to the eye but its actually no longer conductive, very common in the car audio world.

battery terminals

clean and treat the battery terminals. removing any dirt etc....eliminate any coating, corrosion or dirt. You may not even see the problem whether you take the battery cables or not. This is normally the first step and i works most of the time

you could also have had a bad connection with the ground on ur starter or your starter is starting to go...maybe...I had the same problem with my b18c5...had a few problems starting here and there and then finally just gone...and you could jump it all u want and still nothing...if you cant start it but can pop start it and refrain from any problems...your starter is kaboom...or just a bad ground.....
