1996 Civic EX Questions

Post by UMR Racer »

I have been looking for a newer civic than my 94 thats in better condition and I found a 96 EX with 100XXX miles for 3500 on Autotrader and I checked the engine stats and the 96 1.6 is 5hp weaker and has a significantly higher vtec crossover point I just wanted to know how much the difference is from someone that has driven a 92-95 EX and a 96-00 EX.

Thanks
Sean

Your information is incorrect. After checking Wikipedia, the information there is wrong too. The D16Z6 (1992-1995 Honda Civic EX/Si) has 125 horsepower, not 130. And Honda set the VTEC crossovers from the factory at the most optimum point for both economy and power.

As for the difference between them, theres not much thats noticeable at all. The 96-00 motor (D16Y8) has a better intake manifold and smaller combustion chambers which raise the compression ratio .2 points.
