Power Steering Boot

Well i had been losing some power steering fluid over the last week so i checked some stuff and noticed that my driver side rack and pinion boot was broke. While replacing it there was a significant amount of power steering fluid in it. I just wanted to know if i had a bad seal or if it was supposed to be there.

no its not supposed to be in there, the boots are to protect it from outside contaminents, not to keep in the lubricant. im thinking there is a bad seal of some sort in there

thanks for the help with the new boot and doesnt leek as bad because its just draining into the boot instead of out onto the ground.
