Is it just me or was nopi 10 times worse than last year? The drifting was alright, but everything else was a clusterf*ck and there was Hardly any vendors (unless you own a 240). Anyone else agree?

I agree. I think the only reason I had fun was that I brought out my car and 5 others from my team for a show display. The drifting was cool tho. Anyone see the red evo from time attack smoke the wall wheels-turned and break just about everything in the driver front suspension? Good times.

Nopi in my opinion has always sucked. Even when I went with my dad like 3 years ago he said 95% of the cars were disgusting.

I hated the drifting this year. Last year it was outside of the track in the parking lot. It was organized so that you could see the ENTIRE run in the shape of a figure 8 within a rectangle. When I was watching, which was from two different spots, I could see, at most, two turns total. Last year standing as I stood this year up against the fence, I could watch the whole run. This year it was watch for the 10 seconds you can actually see it, then wait like 5 minutes while they go ALL THE WAY AROUND the track to line back up. They should have at least had two different face offs going at once. One run go, after they finish, start the second, and by then, the first run will almost be back at the starting line ready to go again.

Vendors were also weak. The cars showing were alright. I saw a Mugen Si which was awesome. Time Attack + Better Drift + Drag would have been good. Although I'm not a huge fan of muscle, there could have been a few more than the few lonely Mustangs and Cameros I saw. I did like, though, how you could walk up to the Time Attack and Drift cars and take a close look. At one point, a driver or pit crew guy called me and my buddy over to help him mount a tire on a wheel for a later run.

Overall, I'd hands down say that Nopi was better last year than this year.

so you went sunday instead of sat when they did practice runs ALL day and had time attack running in between practice sessions so there was constantly cars on the track, ALSO if you would have thought about it like most of us did the grandstands was a PERFECT place to watch the entire track from start to finish... imagine that grandstands at a race track ....

Agree, this year there were no decent vendors, at least last year they had Clutchmasters, BfGoodrich has a whole trailer, NOS had a tent giving out free samplers, Cometic gaskets was there handing out catalogues, etc.

in my opinion, I liked drifting on a circuit course this year better because it was a faster run, but they could have gotten some portable stands set up by the fence for people to watch over the fence, not through it.

This year's NOPI was organized pretty bad. it took me like 40 min to get in.

I got pics of your car dude. I was there on Saturday. I was talking with James (halogen_17) when the red mitsu crashed into the wall, that was pretty exciting.

Disagree,
Last year and the year before there were a few decent cars, there were a few guys from Chicago that drove down both years with some clean cars.

Sup Chris, I should have put my car in the show, would have been only 10$ more but I'd have a chance to come out both days... Saturday I froze my fingers off while catching the drift action on video, got most of the wipe-outs on video.

Will upload pics later, and drift video compilation will make it to youtube eventually, every run is a separate clip, so I have like 90 clips that need to be compiled and bad clips taken out.

ModTheSol: I didn't watch from the stands, no, but I did like being up close rather than further back and could still walk around the actual show if I wanted. That and the other guy I was with was too lazy to walk all the way back to the stands.

What I meant was: start Race A. When Race A finishes, start Race B. By the time Race B finishes, Race A will almost be at the starting line again, thus cutting down down time between runs. (I'm horrible at explaining things).

And I wasn't expecting high class quality cars at Nopi. I was expecting normal guys like on here and DriftSTL to be showing off their projects, which was what I saw.

N2HFI, I'm not going to argue because you're right. I didn't go Saturday because I was tied up all day and could only make it Sunday. Saturday was me and my girlfriend's 1 year :occasion18:, so I decided to hold off until Sunday. And I had no clue what happened on Saturday because, well, I wasn't there. It would have been cool seeing the practice runs and Time Attack out there at all times.
