yes. but to do more cfms at the same pressure, you would have to increase the size of the piping/throttle body/intake manifold. and this is the point ive been trying to get across. a bigger turbo doesnt always mean more power.5thgen;62095 wrote:that is true.....but you could flow 250 cfm at 10psi, and you can flow 350 cfm at 10psi (these are just random numbers). Equal pressure does not always equal flow.

agreed but how come my buddy put down 325 on a evo with stock turbo on 22 psi and put down 395 on the same evo with a gt35r on the same setup and 22 psi? answer me that...?rickles8099;62092 wrote:and 10lbs of pressure is still 10lbs of pressure whether its from a big source or a small source.
the bigger source can push more air but when the air reach 10lbs of pressure in the system, the wastegate opens and you only get 10lbs of air. 10lbs of air with a big turbo equals 10lbs of air with small turbo.
and silverstreak i have been looking into that stuff and i have the high flow cat for the evo 2 exhaust system and i know bout the valvetrain on the cats and im researching on the pistons whats the best brand out there...intercooler im researching that too....probably 2.5 on the downpipe im gonna talk to matt from htp bout making a 3" turbo back though so im not sure...for the turbo the 16g should be good...not too laggy and will be more than capable of what i am wanting considering evos can put down 28 psi with em...intercooler piping and all of that shit i can figure out too...hard piping would it be needed on my car i didnt think soo...help me out guys never turboed a car....need all the help that i can get....i got a guy with a 600+ hp srt4 and a 400 hp evo helpin me so thats a plus...thnk yu

alright. but at a given piping size, a larger turbo will run [insert number here] psi more efficiently, correct? at least as the desired psi number goes up.rickles8099;62098 wrote:yes. but to do more cfms at the same pressure, you would have to increase the size of the piping/throttle body/intake manifold. and this is the point ive been trying to get across. a bigger turbo doesnt always mean more power.
that was my point... if you have ...say 2.5inch piping, and you have a specific horsepower goal (which would mean a desired cfm number), for the sake of efficiency, wouldn't it make more sense to run a bigger turbo at a lower psi than a smaller turbo at a higher psi
This post comes with a guarantee: I guarantee that I don't care what you think about it.

not always....I would like to know what kind of manifold pressures (exhaust) are built up before the turbo. I would think that a larger, more free flowing turbine would ease the pressure in the runners....making the motor just plain run more effeciently. You wouldn't have as much pressure fighting against the incoming air charge (for whatever amount of overlap you may have).rickles8099;62098 wrote:yes. but to do more cfms at the same pressure, you would have to increase the size of the piping/throttle body/intake manifold. and this is the point ive been trying to get across. a bigger turbo doesnt always mean more power.
There is probably a lot that I don't look at....but I can't see how there wouldn't be a very noticable difference at say 15psi, between a gt30r and a tdo4-15g.

ram horn manifold
3" downpipe
3" custom exhaust

garret core intercooler 24x6.3x3
tial 50 mm bov
tial 38mm wastegate
all the couplers oil lines and hardware
all of this installed
obd1 ecu chipped for neptune or hondata s300 ecu
then whichever one of the 2 computers that i wanted
neptune licensing fee
precission 550cc injectors
walbro 255lph fuel pump
