hood release problems
from what Ive been reading, this seems to be a common problem with my chassis. I finally bought a timing light/gun and I was going to get my distr timing back where it needed to be, but my hood wont pop. I was having trouble popping the hood before. I would pull and pull, and it would take forever to actually pop. Then it got to the point where I had to have someone push down on the hood for it to pop. Now, it wont pop at all. I stuck my hand up between to bumper and radiator to see if I could just pull the cable, but its not connected to whatever it should be connected to. What the heck do I do now to get the hood open??

Put the car up in the air,
take off the lower plastic
Get a friend with long skinny arms to squeeze the release arm with a pair of pliers.

Your latch is just sticking due to dirt/grim/crap. After you change your oil, usually there are a few drops left in the quart bottle. Put that on the latch. Or if you have some WD40 around, spray the latch. Trust me. It will probably work after that.

-pull hood release lever like normal
-hold lever in 'pulled' position, this will reveal the cable up behind the lever
-grab exposed cable with pliers and pull it further than the lever can accomplish
-hood should pop
-clean & lube hood latch
