2000 Teg passenger door sticking HELP!!

Post by Teg-Potential »

SO i decided after my mom hurt herself trying to get into my car today cuz my passenger door sticks (So much so that i have the person hold the handle open and i have to push the door from the inside) Anyone have any input as to what has happened (if this has happened to you) . it doesn't seem to be the weather striping, and the latch it self dont' feel liek its sticking. seems like the hinges themselves. it gets finicky in the warm weather and is less of a pain in the winter.

Any input would be great before i tear it down and just get a new door lol

It doesn't matter if it is an Acura Coupe or a Dodge Coupe, the length and weight of the door causes the door to settle, then when someone uses the door as a crutch to lift themselves out of the car...the door becomes misaligned. I've watched my kid's friends climb out of her car and on to the door, as though it were the "monkey bars on the playground".

So, off with the fender liner, and the fender. Now you can get to the screws/bolts that hold the door to the car.

You must have a helper and a fine lined marker (to mark the location of the hinge, before you loosen the scews/bolts). You pre-mark the hinge location so you will have a reference point. After you adjust the door's location, it might need additional adjustment. You can look at your marks to see how much you moved it the first time.

Good Luck.
