Hood Latch damage(pushed in)

Post by J.M.P »

Hi, hoping to get some help here. I just bought an 98 integra, I knew it had the damage, which was fine with me, I got the car for a good deal.

So here is my problem, the hood that is on it now is dented(smashed in a bit), along with the bumper, wasnt anything major accident, but enough to push in the hood latch area. So I went to buy a new hood, and bumper, pretty much a whole front clip today to replace, I went to close the new hood, and it overlapped the latch just a tad, causing it not to latch or close at all.

My question is, what can I do personally(not by taking it somewhere to get fixed) to get it to the point to where the new hood will latch down?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.'

yes, all the parts are still original, there no major major damage, its just pushed in a little bit, here is a pic of the hood area. that is exactly the way I got it and still is. it hit underneath of a truck causing the damage at the top of the hood, and not the lower part of the bumper.

About the only thing you can do without replacing it is pull it out and get it as straight as possible.

However if you want to do it right have it replaced.

I just want to get it out as much as I can, just to get the new hood to latch, the old one stilll latches. I mean it doesnt have to be perfect its just a DD to me, but would like to be better than it is now.

no, the actual clamp is fine itself, its the reiforcement metal, the support metal right there that its bolted to is bent in and down a little bit, only that is what is needing fixed.
