My dad has painted cars before but not for a while. My parents and i got a 66 VW beetle and my dad and i will paint it ourselves just like he did with all of his other old beetles we are restoring it. Its been a long time before he has done any painting and i havent ever gotten to mess with a paint gun. He bought a cheap one to play with and mess around with. He wants to buy a decent gun now.
What do you guys think about this gun? We will also use it to paint my JDM front end Milano Red when i get it.
Well heres the one we are looking at:

Opinions on this paint gun and tips/tricks would be much appreciated it.
Thanks a lot
Tim

Its more or less the user of the gun. A good gun can help but make sure you have a filter to keep water out of the air lines and its a good air hose with consistant air pressure. Its all about being steady and consistant with your sprays.
The most expensive gun wont make a difference if everything isnt prepped right or done right.

I wouldn't go with a snap-on gun. They are not that great. I personally like Sata guns. Sata and Iwata are the leading paint guns right now. Devilvous (spl?) are also really good guns at a cheaper price. You want to make sure that you have the right tip size for what your doing also.
as for spray technique, just make sure you spray multiple even coats. If you get a run or dirt remember it can be detailed out by wet sanding and buffing.

sata, iwata and devilbiss (sp?) sata is the best IMO.. but i believe iwata and devilbiss make lower "grade" guns... I personally use a Sharpe fx3000.. Fairly cheap gun.. I just know how to spray it so i have no problem using it vs a sata.. sure it would be less effort using a sata but i know how to spray so no problem with using a "cheaper" gun.. Ive used a harbor freight gun and compared it to a sata gun on two different paint jobs.. just a lil wet sanding and polishing and i couldnt tell the difference.. =P
