Spray painting carpet??

Post by J.M.P »

Hi, I bought some carpet for my integra(it is black) but when i got it, it is cut up into 4 pieces instead of one solid piece. Its not that big of deal as i didnt pay much. But I am wandering if anyone has had experience with spray painting carpet, and if so what did you use, cleaning wise, etc.. Thanks and anyhelp will work.

I've dealt with it before but I wasn't a big fan of it.

Spray paint is going to make it hard and clumpy. You need spray dye.

Yea I researched a little bit, and some sprayed their seats(which Im not doing that) they said their seats turned out all hard and clumpy as you say. I also read about that spray dye, Im going to check that out. Has anyone else had experience with it? Im not too worried about it being perfect, but anything is better than now with the stains and such....

Thanks so far...

Do you remember what you used? Was it that spray dye that I read about and someone mentioned, how is the condition of the carpet now, like cushion wise? Thanks

i used carpet spray dye on my carpet, went from nasty old dirty grey to a nice solid black......it does make the carpet a little "harder/crunchy" but obviously its going to be slightly bit because your adding materials to it how-ever it is still plenty soft'

its been 2 years and its still solid black and looks great, ive vacuumed it many times sense then and never had any issues, i believe i bought the carpey dye spray online how-ever i think they sell it at autozone etc

definately use the carpet spray dye...not spray paint

Same outcome, worked out very well in boss's Eclipse a while back. It had some minor stains and a bleach spot on the rear carpet. We removed the carpet, spent about fifteen minutes or more soaping the carpet out and cleaning it with the power washer at a car wash. Afterwords, let it dry and then repainted it with the spray dye from O'Reilly. Everything worked out great!
