Integra side moldings and pinstrip

Post by wanaboostDC2 »

My first question is, what is holding the side moldings on the doors and what is a good way to get them off clean.
Then, whats the best way to get that ugly factory pinstripe off?
Thank you all who reply!

moldings are held in by clips, so there will be holes to fill in. pinstripe can come off with a heat gun or there is a drill attachment you can buy. it is a rubber wheel that rubs off the stripe. if you stay in a spot too long you can burn through the paint.

the wheel you have to be VERY VERY VERY careful... like v-tecivic do not stay in any spot to long. I used this a long time ago on an ep3 i had and it didnt turn out that great. I have heard of other people using a high grit sandpaper but even then the risk is still there.

I wish they wouldnt put lame pinstripes on cars!!

i would suggest a heat gun and plastic razor blade. eraser wheels do damage easy with inexperienced people i remove them at least once a week at work and watch noobs mess up paint at least 4 out of ten times
IM AN EPIC FAIL

I used a pressure washer with a super fuckin high pressure attachment. Took the pinstripe off but left the sticky line behind.. You can hardly tell. It also took off that trim below the window that was peeling horribly. Throw some trim tape on it and you're good.

Pin stipes are easy to get off with the rubber wheels. It's a lot like buffing, don't stay on a spot too long, duh. The only problem with removing any pinstripe, however you do it, is that it posses a high risk of fading the paint behind the car. My buddy put a stripe on his GTO for about six-eight months and removed it to find there was already some fading. Given it was domestic paint so who knows.
Regardless, if you are taking off a pinstripe on anything more than two years old, you will possibly have some fading behind the stripe that may not be removable with a buffer.

When my integra was still around it i only rubbed goo gone all the way down the pinstripe then tipped the corner of it up with a razor and pulled it clear off in one piece side by side.Seemed easy??

Guess i got lucky though
