Holes from auto/manual conversion

Post by gotrice »

My friends car was converted from auto to manual before he bought it, got to looking at it the other day and there are quite a few holes where you can see straight to the ground. Isnt there a metal plate or plates supposed to be welded in when doing this? If anyone has advice or a link to a how-to or something that would be great. I took some pictures and it must be the hardest place ever to get good pictures of what im talking about but here they are anyway...

For the most part you want to cover what you can back up, but not required(just might get a little wet and drafty)

Can you back up with the cam a little its hard to see what your looking at.

The first picture is more towards the front like right under the ash tray. The bottom picture is right under the shift boot. The road noise is pretty loud and there is a major draft when the windows are down.

Try and make a plate out of some ABS plastic (just go to the salvage yard and take a piece of a bumper that is broken) then seal it up with silicone. (rig job yes I know)

Or take it to a fabrication shop and Im sure they would be able to do something with it.

If you need a quick fix go for many layers of duct tape :)

Hmm.. I was thinking most people put a piece of sheet metal in there and screwed it down but I cant seem to find any info on it..

kinda hard to tell whats going on from the pics, but when i did mine i just used a peice of sheet metal i cut out of a door skin, and re-used some old bolt holes/used sheet metal screws then siliconed around it w/ some water proof crap. haven't had any problems.
