Wednesday SBSS Track Records can be set during official qualifying or championship rounds. The Official Street Bike Shootout “suicide qualifying” period, (one qualifying run only), begins at 7:30 PM, (barring unforeseen circumstances). The domination of QuickTime Motorsports continued as Eric Sanzottera scored his fourth victory of six completed events in the 2008 Doc’s Harley-Davidson Street Bike Shootout Series at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Sanzottera, the reigning SBSS season champion, has won eleven of twenty-six races since the inception of the series on March 29th, 2007, and the QuickTime conglomerate has produced the victors in twenty-one of those races!

Sanzottera tested several customer’s bikes during early timed trials but, aboard the infamous 2003 GSX100R tuned by brother Rudy Sanzottera, streaked to an 8.37/172.89 during the one-shot “suicide qualifying” session for the SBSS to claim his sixteenth career pole position. In the opening round of eliminations, Sanzottera faced Joe Jordan’s FlyRiders MC/Sport Bikes Plus ‘04 Hayabusa, a first-time SBSS qualifier, and unleashed the quickest elapsed time of the 2008 season with a brutal 8.223/172.36.

Amir Brandy, better known as “St. Louis Red”, clocked his best pass of the year at 8.87/163.87 to qualify his ‘05 Hayabusa second in the field and bettered that ET with an 8.86/157.80 in a semi-final win over current second-place point contender Shawn Ingram. The only Kawasaki to qualify of twenty-nine hopefuls, Ingram’s ZX1400 had recently been rewired by Rudy Sanzottera after an electrical disaster struck prior to the July 2nd SBSS event but the blue Kawasaki developed a stumble just off the starting line in eliminations.

Brandy, who was scheduled to meet Sanzottera in the championship round one week ago before rains washed out the title bout, found himself stranded at the end of Gateway International Raceway after the semi-finals with an empty gas tank. With his Hayabusa tuned to a specific fuel, Brandy looked throughout the pit area for a new batch but, when the search failed, opted to park his bike. Sanzottera took a sizeable advantage in the 2008 SBSS Championship point standings with an 8.53/172.52 victory in the final round.

SPECIAL NOTE: As per the posted schedule, there will be NO DRAG RACING at Gateway International Raceway from Monday, July 14, through Monday, July 21, due to facility reconfiguration for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series event on the GIR oval on July 18 and 19. The next event in the 2008 Doc’s Harley-Davidson Street Bike Shootout Series at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23rd.
