Screen for the eclipse

Post by Waffles »

So i am going to put a screen into my eclipse for a low budget carputer project I am just playing around with. I am limited to a double DIN and kinda trying to do it on the cheap. It does not need to be touch screen, but it does have to be a bolt in, i really don't want to have to do fab work on my dash. Any suggestions?

I was kind of looking at this one, but I keep hearing in the back of my head "you get what you pay for".

I would not buy that in the hopes of using it as a pc screen. It only has RCA inputs, which some computers support but a I bet an in car computer probably won't have. And the resolution is horrible 480x234, my phone has better resolution, it will be crap to try and read any kind of text on screen. This thing reminds me of the Walmart brand single din dvd/gps/etc/etc JVC rip off they sell for $200. Looks great on the box and is tempting for that price, but looks like total junk out of the box. I would try looking into the Best Buy brand (at least I think it is) "Dual". They have some cheap stuff that does not look like crap, and is fairly reliable. Plus it will probably have a warrenty, I bet you have to send that ebay thing back to Singapore.

The computer I have has S-video out, so RCA will be fine. But I didn't even think to look at the resolution. Thanks for the heads up.

are you gonna go all Brian O'Connor on us and put mad tyte computers in an eclipse?

im just messing around...

look for something else tho... the Dual screens arent bad, but they arent the best either. plus i think a protection plan for it is like 10 bucks... and you get a free one if it breaks with the protection plan... thats what my friend did when he had some Dual subs... he just blew them up and went back for more.

stop by our place and ask for Josh. We'll show you a few solutions to fit your needs. We just finished up a Carputer project for another client.
