Rear speakers eg civic wiring

Post by t-78rx7 »

I need to know what wires are positive and witch are negative. My civic did not come with stock speakers so I don't know.

to be honest... polarity doesn't matter... just because a speaker is in phase mechanically " + to + and - to -" doesn't mean that it is in phase acoustically... it's what ever sounds best... just FYI

If you have the polarity reversed, the woofer will pulse/beat inward instead of outward. I does affect acoustics, however, it won't damage the speaker if thats what your worried about. Having your speakers in reversed polarity could possibly make it sound better. If you wire one speaker out of phase (reversed) and another in phase, it can distort your sound due to noise cancellation. This is usually more noticable on lower notes. Read up on it a little.

the inward/outward is only relative to it's corresponding speaker... so if you have 2 speakers that are hooked up the same... either in phase or out of phase mechanically then there truly is not in/out differences... now if they are opposite " one in phase mechanically and the other out of phase mechanically" then they will be opposite with the push/pull of the cone... acoustic phase is what's important... and no it's not more noticable in lower notes since a 100hz bass wave is 10 foot long...and lower notes are even longer... so the wave cannot propagate fully to be in phase... in most cars

for rear speakers yes you are correct...

for front speakers that a negative... just by playing with mechanical phase in your front stage can and will yield better results acoustically with trying different mechanical phase combinations...
