Ok so I am trying to hook my zune up to my Alpine CDA-9886 which has a USB port on the back. I was wondering if any of you audio gurus had any clue how to get it to work.

All I get is a device error reading on the face when hooked up to the USB port.

I have talked to one person and they said they hooked up a laptop to their Alpine headunit and changed some progaming codes and was able to get it to work, but Im not sure if it was the same unit or not.

I would like to hook it up directly to the radio and not use one of those tuner things where you set it to a radio station.

Any help or advice would be great

Thanks
Brian

Honestly, I don't think aftermarket radios can control the Zune like they can with the Ipod. This is only reason why I got an Ipod. Your getting an error probably because only certain things can hook up to the USB port. Look in your manual and see what devices that can hook up to it. If you don't care about controlling the Zune through th radio, look to see if there is an Aux input in the back of the radio where you can plug double ended 3.1mm plug wire. THat way you will be able to hear the music straight from your Zune but control the music with the Zune.

If you said you have heard of someone connecting a laptop and changing something to make it work, search the net to find out how. Or, ask the person who you heard from, where they heard/saw it.

I looked up some pitcures on the net of your radio. Looks like there is an Aux Audio Input the size of a headphone jack. Get a wire that has headphone plug on both ends and use the Aux input.

the usb will only controll and give you priority with flash drived and usb based harddrives the zune does not have the proper drivers or prioritys to operate via usb anything but a PC

so to get it to play through your alpine you will have to use a 1/8" in to 1/8" line to run from the head phone jack on the zune to the aux in on the alpine deck

thus why i didn't buy a ZUNE! direct connect w/Ipod... plus ZUNE is big and bulky.. Ipod is easier to fit in glove box..

but you can listen to your Zune threw a radio station, done it in my car w/ brother's Zune.. hell you can do tht w/ your mp3 cell phones now..

That zune worked out really nice for the dragon run. Beats carrying lots of CDs.
