For you audio freaks..

Post by LolitaPierce »

I need some opinions here..
Car audio is my least favorite part of cars and the part I spend the least on (lol) but after 4 years I finally got rid of my sub & amp and decided to just keep the door speakers and the 6x9s in the back. The problem is the 4 speakers alone sound kinda weak. I'm having trouble deciding what brand speakers to go with that will sound good/decent and not crack at higher volumes and such. So....any opinions are welcome here!

focals
/thread. that is, if you want to drop some serious $$.

i really like Infinity, but if you're not wanting to go that route either, Boston Acoustics are a good choice. (i have these currently) good bang for your buck, even though they specialize in more home theatre than anything.

i have a system, but i care more about ear piercing clarity and high end than some bumps in my trunk anymore.

talk to n2hifi. he's the guru on here.

Focal is a great speaker but pricy if you want their good stuff, thats what I have but I work in the industry so got a good deal on em. If you want a great sounding speaker at a good price I would reccomend some Polk Audio ... ask dabeast as I think we have put polk in a few of his past vehicles.

Yah...I have Infinity Kappa Perfects now...BIG MISTAKE! Too bright for what I listen too. Polk DB is the best all around sound for the money in my opinion.

Werd. Polks all the way around in the hf, and the basslink in the back... perfect. The lude jams on just door speakers and 6x9's... pioneer ftw.

a friend of mine has boston acoustics hooked up to a rockford amp and he can turn them up as far as he can and they dont even begin to distort

my opinion on speakers is really open .. every speaker has it' plus or minus .. but what i do have more of a suggestion of is ... that if you really want good CLEAN and loud sound then you need a 4 channel amplifier on ALL the speakers.

If i had your car i would put components in the front doors ( well the woofer in the door and the tweeter in the dash where the factory speaker is/was) then 6x9 in the back for "some" bass. Then put a small 50x4 amplifier on them set it up and enjoy the music.

The thing is no matter what radio you have it will never really be enough power to give you full sound WITHOUT a subwoofer , BUT you can compromise by amping them and giving them the power they need to play with out distortion.

that my .02

also if you need speaker recommendations
boston
polk
alpine type r's (but you will need a amp)

stay away from sony, pioneer, kenwood stuff except for factory replacement stuff
