I have been trying to install my subs and amp and the crap isn't working. I know the problem is the REM wire but it just won't put out a signal. The power is good and so is the ground. My stereo has a .03A output and a .01A output and neither are working for me. Any ideas? If you need to know it's a Sony cdx-gt610ui.
I found something in the owners manual about switching the audio outputs from sub out to power a subwoofer to rear out to power an amp but I can't find it on my unit. It's just not where it says it is.

Nope, not turning on at all. I know the shit works too. It's getting no signal from the head unit.

if your sure you getting power and a good ground, then take a piece of wire and jump it from the positive on the amp to the remote terminal........if in fact you have a good power supply and a good ground the the amp will turn on. If it doesnt....then you have a power or ground problem. No it will not hurt anything, just take a short piece of wire and touch the two terminals together.

how do you know your not getting a signal from the head unit if its not turning on?dclduke;106426 wrote:Nope, not turning on at all. I know the shit works too. It's getting no signal from the head unit.
make a little piece of jumper wire hooking your 12V+ and your remote together at the amp to see if it powers up. if it does you know you got a problem in your remote wire (or head unit)
a lot of recievers will have an inline fuse on the remote (blue) wire coming out of them. check to see if it is blown

I have never seen a fuse on the remote wire before.
I have seen several headunits with bad remote turn ons. If so, take the remote turn on wire going to your amp, and just tap it onto the Red Wire(Ign) on the back of your radio.

I believe he means the fuse located on the back of the headunit.Kolk1;106654 wrote:I have never seen a fuse on the remote wire before.

Usually it's not that hard to wire up an amp.
The cluster of wires from the head unit, one of them is the remote wire. It is usually blue and is labeled "Remote." That wire gets ran to the rear where the amp is. The RCAs get plugged in and ran to the rear as well. The amp power wire is ran from the battery to the rear. And the amp ground wire is bolted to a shaved off part of the chassis.

Yeah...no shit. I found out the problem. I would have gotten power from the remote wire if I wasn't stupid and pulled out the wire when routing it. What happened is I routed the power wire first and when I got it back there I took the fuse out. When I got everything hooked up and put it back in I put the fuse back in. I assumed it had a good connection. It didn't. After I realized that I had no power I bent the terminals on the fuse and fixed the connection at the stereo and bam...it worked.SweetEBPSi;106692 wrote:Usually it's not that hard to wire up an amp.

[cliffs] I was being lazy and retarded. Thanks for all the suggestions though.
