Alpine type R are nice, if you want a bass.. but Type S speakers are more clear tone for the highs... I owne both type r and S in my teg... thinking of getting componets for R...still Alpine makes goos stuff!

The brand itself is not as importand as the way they are imaged and tuned.

you forgot one thing in that list ... power everything else is usless if you dont have the power to drive the speakers. And for the people who don't know your 50 watt x 4 radio is actually 16 watt x 4 rms the 50 number is a MAX power number and i have seen NO decks actually make this.

So a coaxil is a better speaker to run if using just the deck power but if you running a amp a componet setup is perfered usally.

Thanks Chris for pointing this out. We can go as far as sound dampening, processing, source unit etc. But as far as specifically talking about "speakers" or anything in a system is not just the component. People all the time ask us when they hear our cars, they'll say "WOW, what type of speakers are those" etc. It is not so much just the type of speakers, that does help, but the way it is staged, tuned, dampened, crossed over, source unit etc. Everything effects everything. The result is only as good as the technician and the method in which the component is installed.
