more tech?

so your saying just make stlhondas a hang out place? I dont think that was Ricks intention when he started this forum but correct me if im wrong Rick. I personally dont like going to 8 different websites to find one answer I could have found if I searched on here.

so what youre saying is that we should just have a list of links going to how-to's and information? i can put all of that into one webpage and then there would be no need for a tech section at all. the whole point to a forum is to post up information, ask questions, answer questions, and form a community. not to have people come to refer them to other places.

I dont think we need to copy and paste every thing technical we see but like that oil thread that has some good information and I know a lot of people ask me well whats good oil what makes it good oil bla bla bla so I found that site had some GREAT information so I posted it.

some articles like that are nice to copy and paste, just be sure to note where it came from. i would however like to see some people on the site do some of their own in depth how-to's. mike93hatch is currently doing one on the cg transmission. im wanting to do one on reringing a d series. we just need people to stop being so secretative about what theyre doing and help inform everyone else on how to do what getting done.

If I had a build going on or something like that, I would totally make a big thread about it. If I really knew what I was talking about when it came to a certain subject I would share my knowledge.

But I can understand why not everyone shares there knowledge. Being a regional/small group site makes things a little personal sometimes ( read drama ) about some subjects, including cars and tech. I like Steph's oil thread, but I wouldn't base that info on what oil to use on my car. It was alot of info with no usefull info that pertains to my needs as a honda owner. I have no clue where that came from, I know you know your stuff Steph, but that was obviously done by some industry professional.

I like the idea of more tech, but this is not the first place I would look for info. But this is the first place I would ask opinions, because I know people on here that can be trusted.

The oil thread is a very useful thread with A LOT of information about oil. Like you said you have firestone or whatever oil change place do it for you BUT I know quite a few people on here and where ever who dont like to do that stuff because well they dont trust places like that.

I just feel that not a lot of tech is being brought to the site and if there was people would know A LOT more about what they drive and how things work.

I don't see what the issue is with this. Its just another section of the site, if you don't care if its there, don't look at it. I won't hurt anyone. It will just help those that do want it.

Theres tech sections on the site but they just arent very active...BUT THATS JUST HOW I SEE IT when I look at other sites.

What if someone ask you a question that cannot be answered by that post, could you answer it for them?

Where's the tech in posting info that cannot be back up by knowledge of the person that posted it.
