There's a kid local to me who drives what appears to be a bone stock RX-8. He showed up at my house with a few buddies and demanded a ride in my car - CRX HF, LS swap, LS trans, mystery "built" bottom end (detonates on 89 octane), stock top end, relatively stock. He seemed pretty surprised at how quick it was, until he got out of the car. His first comment to his friends was that it "wasn't really that fast."
Shoot to a month later and I see him at the local 1/8th mile track, asked him if he wanted to line them up, he gave some excuse about how his second gear was "going out", I told him it was just for fun, he asked me to pop my hood cause you never know what I've done to the car since then, I FINALLY convinced him I hadn't done shit since the day he rode in it, and he said okay. He managed to run 10.56 @ 66mph with a 1.2 sec reaction, my car lost all fuel pressure about half way down the track, and started bucking like an epileptic at a strobe light convention. I ran 10.67 @ 53mph with a .76 reaction, beat him by .34 seconds. Later that day I managed to pull 9.79@72mph, while his best run of the day was 10.56... Apparently if his "NOS bottle" was full I would have lost.
I can't wait till I finish my CRVTEC build and hopefully by then he'll get some nawssss so we can see what's really up.

Still haven't pinpointed the fuel pressure issue. If I let the car sit for a few minutes the fuel pressure will drop the 0. The girl who went down the strip before us blew her motor, sending bits and pieces of the block all over the track. While they were cleaning up and safety was checking the track, I decided to shut my car off. 10 minutes go by and they gave us the go ahead to stage. I started her up, staged, made it through first gear, half way through second gear I hit fuel cut, and the CEL came on. I thought I fucked something up major and instinctively hit the brakes; hence the slow trap speed. I might just forget about it for now since the motor is coming out soon anyways.

If anyone ever showed up at my house and demanded a ride in anything I own, I'd just tell them to piss off and just go back inside, lol.

I'm coming over. You better get that Grand Am ready, because I'm demanding a ride.Devilchrono;294192 wrote:If anyone ever showed up at my house and demanded a ride in anything I own, I'd just tell them to piss off and just go back inside, lol.

One more excuse he could've used I guess. I blame shitty driving and terrible reaction.Silver Knight;294191 wrote:The only reason the rx-8 lost was because it ran out of oil.

B18B with a mystery built bottom end. No clue on what's done to it but I know it's higher compression than stock. The thing burns a quart of oil every 1,000 miles so either the rings are about gone or it severely needs new valve seals. I also spun all the way through first and a good bit through second on almost every run. On a possibly dying motor with shot street radials and a long geared tranny, I figure that's not terrible. The rear interior is gutted.
Shooting for mid 12's in the quarter with the new motor.

idk man i have a gutted ef.. weight 2000 without me in it.. b18b with ls tranny no bolt ons i has a stupis edelbrock intake and 70mm tb on it and it killed all the torque of the ls... and i did 14.9s in the quarter and the 9.6 in 1/8 also done it on 14in steelies and a crappy all weather tire.. but you should be able to take out that rx8 with no problem bud.. my old friend ran one on the highway from like a 65.. with 3 people and my tool box and a ls tranny in the back ran door to door with one he eventually cam around though probably around 90 but was funny lol
