I got a bud with a 04 stage 2 cobb sti and it pulls bus lengths on our friends s2k with 4th gear out. so it must have been messed up or just playing around.

Oh no definitely not that. It was the body style before they went to the wagon.
I actually ran into the guy again tonight. I forgot to ask the year because we were driving down 141 but he did say 17.5 psi which confused me because I thought stock they ran 18. He said that the only stock part on the exhaust was the muffler which I figured.

I can pretty much guarantee that it wasn't a "Full" Stage 2 since you said it had a stock exhaust. If it was a stage 2, it would have walked away from you. Especially if you are stock. As to your stopping him from pulling from you, suby's are not that great at higher speeds. That AWD is a killer at racing at high speeds. High air temps don't help either with the turbo.
You should be able to answer that yourself being a car guy. In case you can't, no. The car doesn't pull as hard in 2nd, 3rd, etc. As with any car, 1st gear should have the most pull due to it having the lowest gear ratio.I guess the real question is do these cars typically pull as hard (or near as hard) in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th as they do in 1st? Because if this thing pulled in 2nd-4th like it did in 1st he would have put quite a few more cars on me.
If it was a pre 04, that it was a WRX. There were no STi's in the US before 04. If you saw the headlights, where they roundish?I'm thinking pre 04...is that when they changed in looks a bit
I know that a stock WRX for the years 02-03 was 17 psi which produces 220hp at the flywheel. I'm not sure about the other years. If he is only running 17.5 psi and says the only stock part is the exhaust, than I think he is lying. If he modded his car except for the exhaust, he is doing everything ass backwards since the exhaust is one of the most restrictive pieces on a WRX.I forgot to ask the year because we were driving down 141 but he did say 17.5 psi which confused me because I thought stock they ran 18. 1. Yeah he said it was ALMOST full stage two. The next night I saw him he said the only thing stock as far as exhaust was the muffler. I know all wheel drive cars are typically known for being somewhat of a slouch from a roll, but on the other hand I know EVO's perform well from a roll. Didn't know if the STi's were similar. And the race happened at about 10 at night so we were probably looking at upper 70's to lower 80's. Certainly not cold, but not hot by any means.SweetEBPSi;267005 wrote: 1. 2. Well yes, that's why I put in the parenthesis saying "nearly as hard". I know that of course a car will pull harder in the lower gears, but 1st compared to 2nd-4th was night and day difference. Much more significant of a difference than cars I'm used to.
3. The second night I saw him it was from the front. The car was definitely 04+.
What I'm concluding is he was far more near stock than near FULL stage 2. I promise I know more about cars than what this thread alludes to, but like I said from the get go, Subarus and all wheel drive turbo cars in general are not my forte.

Kingshighway in the city or st. charles? I'm up in st. charles a lot in my si because I go to school up there and my girlfriend lives there. I've only been up there a few times in the S2000.

My 03 WRX is stage 2 which is claimed by COBB to be 285whp and 285tq. On an STI, those numbers should be even higher. Sounds like it was just a bone stock car

At some point I'd love to go at it from a roll with one of you guys. I know a roll is not where a Subby shines but I think we all know what the outcome would be from a dig. I just want to get an idea of what that guy truly had...and to just get some runs in.d16ej1;267229 wrote:I totally agree and I also have an 03 WRX with stage 2!
