engine light reads ***ERROR**** and no i haven't jumped the ecu yet. But mechanically the car runs sound.Only question i have is, does a b wiring harness have 3 plugs and is the third port on the p2t for plug n play?Phate;268151 wrote:The P2T you have should be the correct ecu, what issues are you having?

well, that shows me a couple things. #1, i don't have connector c on my harness. #2, i hate electronics even more now. but it does help.

Welcome.
An OBD2B P2T ECU is not plug and play for a '96-'98 Civic unless you're using a conversion harness.

now I'm even more confused. So all three ports on the p2t should be filled by the wiring harness, correct? Mine isant. But it has to be the right harness or the car wouldent run. I don't have a conversion harness because the engine, harness and ecu are obd2 so its not needed. WHY AM I MISSING CONNECTOR C?!?! lolJustRob;268188 wrote:Welcome.

Well, I shouldn't say you can't use a P2T w/o a conversion harness. I'm just assuming you're using a '99-'00 P2T since you're making an Si clone and having ECU issues. There are OBD2A ('96-'98) and OBD2B ('99-'00) ECU's and engine harnesses used during the '96-'00 Civics and they aren't compatible with each other.TheDoc;268196 wrote:now I'm even more confused. To try and help with your issue, we need to know what model year all the components came from. ECU, engine harness, engine, etc.

everything that is swaped is out of a 99si. All from the same car too. Origionally a hx auto. Swaped motor, tranny, ecu, shift linkage and harness. I figured it would work.JustRob;268200 wrote:Well, I shouldn't say you can't use a P2T w/o a conversion harness. The easiest way to fix this issue with the least amount of wiring is to use a '96-'98 Civic EX Manual Transmission Engine harness with an OBD2A to OBD2B ECU conversion harness. This makes everything plug and play.TheDoc;268203 wrote:everything that is swaped is out of a 99si. All from the same car too. Origionally a hx auto. It takes quite a bit of wiring to use a '99-'00 Civic engine harness in a '96-'98 Civic chassis.

but shouldn't the harness from the si work? I mean if it works in a si it should work in a si clone. Right?JustRob;268205 wrote:The easiest way to fix this issue with the least amount of wiring is to use a '96-'98 Civic EX Manual Transmission Engine harness with an OBD2A to OBD2B ECU conversion harness. Unless you changed the entire cabin wire harness to the one from a '99-'00 Si, the '99-'00 Si engine wire harness will not work in a '96-'98 Civic since the plug that connects both the cabin and engine harness is pinned differently. Did you change the cabin harness too?TheDoc;268209 wrote:but shouldn't the harness from the si work? I mean if it works in a si it should work in a si clone. Right?
