My new tow vehicle...Ridgeline has been replaced!

Post by luvmyhondas »

Well, after the Ridgeline went away, I knew I was going to need another tow vehicle. After searching for just the 'right' truck (about a month) I finally located it. Jake (from Different Drummer Tattoo) and I left at 1am wed morning headed for Dalton, GA. After a final inspection/test drive I left with this:

2002 Ford F-350 XLT Crew Cab LONG BED 4x4 7.3L diesel with automatic trans. Rolling on stock alloys with 285/75/16 Michelins. Plans, at first, are to make sure all the fluids are current (and probably will be swapped out for hi performance synthetics). Then, 2 in leveling kit for the front as the 1 tons have a rake on them from the factory that looks gawdawful. I'll probably tint the front windows and possibly darken up the rears. After those minor things, the fun will begin. 5" exhaust and a programmer to start, then we'll see from there. I've got a diesel performance parts distributor lined up, so I've got to be able to demonstrate the products!

Before anybody asks...NO I'm not putting stacks on it, NO I'm not lifting it. And, YES, I'll most likely pull of the grandpaw chrome mirror covers.

Good motor choice!

lol and you probably will barely feel anything you tow behind it!
2008 Chevy Slobalt
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps

Yes I own 2 slow red chick cars & 1 real car!

thanks, that was one of the things that made this so hard to find. I didn't want an 03, cuz 7.3L is almost nonexistant that year. Didn't want a Lariat with leather and woodgrain...gross. Would not take a grampa gold exterior or anything with tan guts. The list goes on.

I found that I was looking for a needle in 1 HUGE ASS haystack!

thanks...I'm liking it more and more. My Dad came by to take a look and was very impressed, but now he wants to buy it! Plus, now he thinks something is wrong with his because of the difference in the height in the front between the two trucks. Mine is WAY higher.

I don't know much about trucks, but if this is a tow vehicle, why buy a leveling kit? I thought they came with a rake so when you're towing something, the rear doesn't sag.

'tis true, but it kinda looks goofy to me. Plus, it would take quite a load to squat the rear of this thing down. I'm not going to jump right in and buy a leveling kit right now. I'm going to load it a couple times and see how it does first.
