At those times the car's manufacturing dates will be older than 15 years, making them exempt from ALOT of restrictions, aloowing them to get into te US easier.

dude i work on scoobies i know what you're talking about.

And as far as the 15 year rule as far as i know it only applies to canada.

Also, you still have to be able to prove that the car meets the original safety and emissions requirements of the USDM counterpart. Also you have to swap out some stuff, such as: installing DOT approved safety-glass, MPH speedometer, get a cat-ed exhaust. for cars that will eventually be 97+ (which is like 5 years from now i know) they also have to be obd2, most jdm cars never went over obd1. Then you have to wait for the title to become a us title and get us vin numbers, register it with the NHTSA. I know theres a bunch of other steps that you have to go through that i'm forgetting. I know this because me and my dad were trying to make a business out of importing JDM cars and making them street legal. Its actually less of a pain in the ass to just switch the motors, trannies, steering system, and the entire set-up to RHD (which is saying something) Plus the JDM Supras are actually less powerful than USDM Supras.
