Ok heres the deal now
We just replaced the Oxy sensors on our 02 Ford f150 with the 4.2
Now it wont start
Its getting fuel
But it backfiring through the intake and literally blew the cone out of the intake hose.
So what in the world would be causing it to do that?
Anyone please help

Sounds like a timing or firing order issue.

i agree^^ what did you actually do to the truck? i personally dont see how changing an oxygen sensor would cause those problems.

Actually it finally started
I guess the computer needed time to reset
But the shop says its a fault on fords side
They manufacture the intakes on the 4.2s with rubber grommets
And the rubber grommets are starting to rot
So it was shooting codes because the oxy sensor were maxed out due to the rubbers wearing away
So i dont really know but thats what the shops have told us and its gonna cost almost 600 bucks to get it fixed

Its a bit hard to understand what your trying to say. The Ford 4.2's have Rubber gromets on the bolts for the intake. Its a pretty common problem to have the intake gaskets leaking, (causing a P0174/P0171 Lean codes). Usually the Intake gaskets are replaced without replacing the gromets (which are sold with the intake bolts.) Are you sure it was a O2 sensor problem originally or a mis-diagnosted lean/ lean switching condition code?

I dont know according to the parts store it was throing codes for bad 02 sensors in both bays because the grommets are sucking in air causing them to max out

Ok well got the truck fixed we hope
Come to find out when it back fired and blew the cone outta the intake hose it partially disconnected the MAF and loosened it
Which was causing all of the problems
