My 97 Talon Build.

Post by Kolk1 »

Well, sadly knowing me, keep your eyes open, it will probably be for sale soon. lol

Honestly, I want to continue building this for awhile. Its paid off, I also have a bike, and I also have a DD. So theres no reason to get mad if its down for a couple days or even weeks.

I used to have a 90 FWD turbo Laser, and thats where I found out how fun these cars are. I didnt really want AWD to be able to do dumb low 60fts, but more or less so I could give it hell from any moving speed, and know traction will be there.

One bad thing about DSMs in general is they SUCK as daily drivers lol...it seems like I was working on mine every other day lol...so I traded it for a Honda:PDT_mpr:

Well, right now im putting $1,000 a month towards paying off the Bike. So until thats paid off, mods will be kinda slow, thats why im doing more Maint right now, since thats a "need" item, over a "want" item. Once the bike is paid off, things will more a little more quickly to say the least. lol

As for now, I picked up the pad and rotors this morning. Not really that exciting, just some more WHOOH power.

the body of the car is in great shape! that always makes a project more fun because you don't have to worry about doing body work. Everything under the hood looks clean. the only thing i would change is the turbo manifold so you have more clearance to the radiator.
You can talk shit all you want! eventually noone will care about your input. :yo:

Thanks, I just bought some better buffer pads, so hopefully I can get more of the swirls out of the paint. There is one small dent by the passenger headlight on the fender. Its probably about 3-4 inchs big, but thats really about the only thing wrong with the body.

Its not the manifolds problem, its where the wastegate is. I could always turn the turbo outlet slightly down more, but its the wastegates that just needs to be relocated.

Ended up being the wrong size front rotors, so I just took them back, and put on a normal set of blanks up front, and kept the Powerslots on the back. Regaurdless, it feels WAY better than it did before. And ive been told that if I do end up making the power I plan on making, Ill have to do a bigger brake kit anyway, if I want to brake boost from a roll. So for now, it all works great.

Also did a boost leak today, pumped it up, and found a couple decent size leaks, fixed those, and the car seems to feel a lot more peppy, and spool a little quicker, but who knows, its also about 20 degrees cooler today too. lol

Oh, heres why I had to get rid of the old brakes. Pads werent touching about a 1/4inch on top and bottom of each pad. All 4 corners were like this:
