Its not worth converting a non awd to awd. Just get a awd car to begin with. The car dont have any provisions in the rear for the awd.rickles8099;16 wrote:how hard is it to swap a 2.0 engine in with the whole awd drivetrain into a 93 1.8 liter talon?

I apologize forreviving a dead thread, but I would like to clear a few things up.
Yes, you CAN convert a 1G ('90-'94) DSM from FWD to AWD, but it is VERY DIFFICULT and not really worth it unless you feel like taking up a tough project. Alot needs to be done such as welding the other two mounting points in the rear and you'll need the Turbo AWD ECU and wiring harness to complete. It's alot of work, but it has been done.
As for 2G's being electrical probematic, I personally haven't seen any with issues, but yes, they're out there. I prefer a 1G myself for quite a few reasons and a big one is that the 1G (IMO) is a better built car, especially when it comes to the engine. There are things in the 2G that are better then the 1G, but for the most part, 1G's were built stronger.
