New tools :)

Post by IshbOO »

Well my dad decided to get me a air compressor and some tools.

He picked this up 175 PSI, not bad can't wait to learn to use it.

Also we got an impact hammer, impact wrench 1/2, and picking up a drill tomorrow.

Does anyone have any tips on using the wrench? We got some deep 6 star metrics for the hondas :). Does this thing stop at a certain torque like some wrenches? I am afraid of maybe over tightening my lug nuts. I've seen Rick use his and it stopped at a certain torque when it made the ch ch ch sound, then he went threw and hit all the lugs with a torque wrench, is there a setting for this or anything that I need to know before puttin this on the lugs? The wrench it self has 1-2-3 settings for clockwise and counter clockwise.

Any tips would be appreciated :) the impact wrench manual that it came with is worthless.

Also we picked up this bad boy power sprayer. 13HP Honda engine :) same engine thats on my go kart :)

unless you're using torque sticks, i wouldn't mess with an impact when putting lugs on.

or you can just not crank them down and invest in a 1/2 inch torque wrench, i dont trust torque sticks. alot of shops dont use them anymore.

i use my impact wrench (ingersoll) all the time and love it 1000lbs of torque ftw (then again its as much as a good compressor) not a nut that it could not get off yet and if it cant i have a impact screwdriver that can get anything off i pretty much garentee it its a must for all tool boxes.

i would strongly recomend quick releases with thread locker. get some 3/8 inch hose or bigger. also tripple check that the socket is the correct size when using the impact.

as far as using my impact for lug nuts i use it for everything, if it shouldent be torqued down too much i turn it down to a lower setting.
so far behind im ahead of the pack.

thanks for the replies guys, cant wait to get learning to use this bad boy! whooo!

we just got the cheapest air tools, to see how we like it, then maybe upgrade in the future. I'm not a fan of these lowes Kobalt tools, Ive had a few socket wrenches break on me dunno how they did, luckily they replaced them.

i think the compressor is big enough for anything i'm gonna use it for.

but now I got this shell outside ima start ripping clean. Gonna learn to pull this bseries too. Increase brain powers and learn more about my integra :)

my compressor which cuts off at 110 psi looks like the same size and was enough to easily paint my car when it was 95 degrees. just used mine today
just remember to open the bleeder after every use at least thats what i do
keep your tools well oiled and if they have a grease fitting like mine youll have to grease em after bout every other use
so far behind im ahead of the pack.
