A few samples of my Photography Skills

Post by K'netic »

Figured I'd post em up and see what you guys think.

Free photoshoots for members! (When I get back from Cleveland in July)
I'd just like to build my portfolio.

As always, a little level adjustments, but no editing.

Let me know what you think!

I'll start with members.

I like the editing a lot, kind of dark, but I like it. I'm not a fan of the "JDM slant" though.

You are leveling the darks down a bit too much for the sake of adding contrast. Once you find a true black stick with it and use the curves tool to add any contrast to desired areas. Im not going to comment on the angles, you will grow out of them. Good composition and use of location, keep it up.

I've done all the editing on my laptop and apparently this screen increases the brightness significantly. Whenever I get home I'll go back through them all and re-level on a CRT screen so you guys can see them the way I do now.

Here they are with no adjustments at all.

Also I replaced the shots taken at the blasphemous "jdm" angles.
I swear, sometimes you guys just gotta be willing to look at things from a new angle; literally.

^^^^^^^ This one's got to be my favorite. I stopped the lense down as far as I could go and made it a 30-second exposure to really bring out the lense flares from the light source.

It actually turned out the way I planned!

It's a to each his own thing on the JDM angles. Some people like em, some people get sick of looking at em. Myself, I'm indifferent. Badass pics though.
Ribs. I had ribs for lunch, that's why I'm doing this.

Most of those were shot with my beater camera Nikon D40 except the one of the 240 which was shot with my old D2Hs.

I sold that because I was barely using it's capability and I could have picked up a good EG hatch for what I paid for it.

I got bored so I ordered a new Nikon D5000 a couple nights ago so that should be here within the next week.

Which that's gonna drive me nuts because I won't have any subject material to shoot! I swear the car scene here is DEAD!
