I loved the TL as well, but the wife got pregnant with our first and suddenly we were scared about budget, so we sold it. Great car though, I took it on a couple of road trips and it was just fantastic on the highway. Only car I've owned that I liked better for long highway drives was a 1988 Ford Thunderbird. Sounds strange, but that car had an AOD transmission, 2.73:1 rear end and tall skinny tires. At 85mph it was turning something like 1500RPM. In those years the Thunderbird was the NASCAR body template for Ford and were very aerodynamic, made for a quiet and efficient ride. I'd get 40mpg at 80mph. Terrible in-town car though. Sight-lines sucked, impossible to parallel park, felt like it was 20-foot long and the doors felt even longer. You needed another empty parking spot next to you just to get in and out of the thing.02Type-S;251287 wrote:Welcome, I have a soft spot for tegs and 2nd gen TLs..haha
