K20 Battle

Post by Fenian »

Here is a set of 3 videos from Japan of K20 powered cars. I hope that this hasn't been posted before.

There is the Spoon EK9, the Jun DC5 and a J's Racing Fit among others. I can't understand a word that they say, but it is pretty entertaining. The third video is probably the best. Enjoy!

We screened that at Chris' house some time ago. Good stuff, though.

I wish. It is a prohibitively expensive swap that can completely screw up the balance in the car. The K20 swap is over $6k with all of the custom parts if I am not mistaken.

A Kraftswerk S/C or T1R turbo kit can be had for $3-$3.5k or so. That would be a much easier and cheaper endeavor.

But the supercharger or turbo will make just as much power POSSIBLY as just doing the K20 swap.

A K20 swap will make more hp than any forced induction kit on the market, although not as much torque as a 10psi turbo kit. However, it also requires custom axles, engine mounts, cutting and welding the frame and other modifications. All this on a relatively new car that still has a warranty. A cheaper alternative than a K20 swap would be a K24 out of an Accord. You could always supercharge it later and make more power than a K20.

However, all that being said, it seems like a waste of money. A Fit is a fun car, but it wouldn't be worth it. One could K20 swap a EH civic for a lot less money and it would be faster.

Faster in a different chassis...sure, no problem.

Would it be as rare... no. ANOTHER swapped civic... or a Swapped FIT?

True.

On Autotrader recently, there was a K20 swapped Fit w/ a 6-speed and a LSD. They were asking 24k for a car that had almost 20,000 miles. Here is a link to the cached page as the ad isn't up anymore.

If I had around $25k to spend on a modified car, I don't think a Fit would be on the top of my list. Although if I won Powerball, why the hell not?
