Why i love my job
Okay it's been a bit since i have had had a reason to update this but recently i have been doing some more custom and crazy fab jobs so i have some new pics to put up.
The first is for a customer who wanted a custom single 12" kicker CVT mounted under one of his rear seats in a chevy extended cab. The customer wanted to have it covered in his own material so all i did was build the box and he took it to his budy to spray it with bed liner material to protect it from getting beat up since it's his work truck.
So this is what i started with .. i made a three sided box with the woofer firing down .. now the woofer is actually spaced off the floor by about 2 inches giving it plenty of breathing room . You can see in the following series of pic how i cut the front and side to fit the seat in the down position as well as following the factory floor line also.

then i added ribs to the sides to give the enclosure a back bone to support the fleece material i used to make the back of the box

ok here is the box wrapped in fleece and stapled ready to have fiberglass resin applied to it

okay i applied 2 coats of resin let it dry and then i painted the face of the enclosure for the guy so he wouldn't have to take the woofer out of the box and run the risk of damaging the sub. this is the finished product as i gave it to the customer after i loaded the sub and tuned his amp set up for it ..

i regret i did not get any finished pics of the box installed but they guy is supposed to bring it by someday for me to check it out and get some finished pics.. but you get the idea

Why i love my job
ok had my first chance to do a full system in a new challenger and i really like working on these new Chrysler's. Large trunks, battery is in the trunk, DBL DIN dash locations, good door locations and dash locations for tweeters... they typically sound really good for very little work.
Well this particular customer brought in ALL his own product for me to install .. so all i provided was some wiring and ALOT of labor.
product run down:
Pioneer 900BT dbl din dvd/blue tooth/Navigation/touch screen
Diamond Audio components
Diamond Audio 6 1/2 coaxial
Diamond Audio 4 channel amp
Diamond Audio 2 mono amp
Diamond audio 10" subwoofer
All speakers went in modified factory locations
amps went in the spare tire well where there was NO spare
and i made a custom ported 10" enclosure with trim panels
All right front component : factory door speakers are 6x9's so i made a quick 6x9 - 6 1/2" adapter plate and covered it with dynamat .. the rest of the door is one big sheet of steel and factory sound deading so the speakers was the only thing that needed any extra.

Tweeters mounted in the factory 3 1/2 location on the dash with a piece of back strap and a little angle work to get the best sound possible from this location

the crossovers for the components were mounted on a piece of abs and located under the drivers side of the dash behind the factory panels.. this makes tuning the crossovers very easy and simple and speeds up the tuning process alot.
(also side note i custom make all my own speaker wire for these applications using 16g stranded wire and twisting them for a visually appeasing install)

Ok on to the trunk , this is it in it's stock form from the factory, i planned on putting the amps in this location so i had to modify this styrofoam tray a bit to work for my needs.

So first i cut to down and kept just the compartments for the air compressor and tools, then i made my mount/pedestal i was going to physically mount my amps to.

okay this is the actual amp board mounted to the pedestal just waiting for the amps

ok amps mounted wired up and ready to go .. i did not do any type of finish panel on this set up because they are mounted under the trunk mat so you don't see them and you will see the trunk mat in the finish pic of the sub enclosure

ok and here is the finished trunk (yea i know no pics of the enclosure being built but ..o well thats boring stuff right .....

and there you go a nice simple system that sounds REALLY good and takes up minimum space and allows full access to almost the entire trunk.
