Heat extractor hood vent

Post by granturismonut »

Since I am planning on doing a little road racing this year I wanted to make sure and do everything I could to keep underhood temps managable so I decided to add some form of vent or louver. I considered just buying a carbon fiber Evo or Invader hood I stumbled upon a company called Crawford Composites out of N.C. that had a clearance priced carbon fiber louver that might just do the trick, it was a little bigger than I wanted but the price was right. Had to cut a little bit, ok most of most of the underhood support, but luckily the carbon was strong enough that when bonded stiffened it back up. I had the wiper nozzles smoothed since I was having it painted anyway.

While I was at it I had a replacement front bumper painted, mine had seen better days and a raccoon had done a number on it last year. I ended up having the license plate and emblem mounting holes smoothed. I have to rework my heat exchanger mounting to get the bumper to fit without hacking it up.
