well I have to pull the tranny so I can get 3rd and 5th gear synchros replaced, probably more but that all I know as of now. and was wondering if anyone had any pointers. I've never had to do it while everything was in the car usually easier to pull it all out and go from there, but with the turbo, all the oil/water lines ect ect. I figured it'd be easier to leave that all in and just pull the tranny. thanks in advance.
BTW 95 Del Sol w/b16 if that makes a dif.

pulling the tranny
I take my transmission off without taking the axles completely out. That saves me quite a bit of time. I also don't mess with the castle nuts on the bottom of the ball joint (lower control arm).....I just take all other bolts out of the lower control arm.
I keep both driver side motor mounts on when I "tilt" the engine, all other mounts come off. I just lower the motor with a flat piece of wood on a jack, and set it so the oil pan rests on it.
You can leave all water lines/etc. hooked up.
***buy something that works good on getting the shift linkage pin out somewhat easy. A 3 lb hammer and the right sized punch is what I used. ***

Go to www.Gearspeedinc.com for Carbon Coated synchros for your car... If it is a normal B16 tranny it should be a Y21.
The set will come with a normal brass 1st and 2nd, and then 3rd, 4th, and 5th will be carbon coated. They normally retail about $275 shipped if I can remember correctly, and I got mine in about 4 days.
For my tranny, I had prob;ems putting the shifting into 4th gear and keeping it there. It would go in sometimes and then eventually kick it out or it just wouldn't go in at all... that required me getting a whole new 3rd / 4th gear sleeve from honda which was an additional $275 shipped.
It was well worth the money though.
From normal racing at the track with the passenger's seat in and the rear side panels in and stock tranny, I was running a 15.3 @ 91. I rebuilt the tranny with Rick's help, and removed the passenger's seat and the side panels in the rear and lost half a second in my 1/4 mile time... 14.8 @ 93. I know I didn't lose that much weight from the car, so... well you see what I am saying.

pulling the tranny
well, finally got around to getting the tranny out, the markings on the barcode tag says it's a s21 but from the investigating I've done so far they are virtually the same.
going to call GearSpeed after I get it torn down and make I don't need anything else beside the synchros while it's torn apart
It'll be so nice to be able the make a 2-3 shift under power, after the turbo 1st was pretty much useless tirespin 2nd, was alot better and then I'd lose boost and momentum waiting for the rpm's to drop before I could use 3rd, it's sucked
