You do know that the BMW club doesn't allow s2k's unless you have an aftermarket rollbar, correct?irevto9k;136643 wrote:I am going today weather is perfect!!! I am also a HACSTL member as well.:honda:

My best advice to you would to either talk to my boyfriend Keith on hacstl or contact Peter or Damon over on the stl bmw boards. Keith knows though b/c he has the s2k and asked those questions when he was looking into taking his out on the trackirevto9k;136675 wrote:i would really like to know the exact type of rollbar that is needed so i could get it and goto the bmw events i was looking at the cusco ones like do i need the just the 5 point or the full roll cage??? why do you NEED a racing seat and harness? You don't NEED these things to run on the track, all you NEED is the roll bar

i asked the bmw club and they said for the covertable to be able to run i need a roll bar and a special seat and seat belt.
For all BMW CCA driving schools nationwide an aftermarket roll bar is required, typically they are 4 point roll bars. I don’t know your specific installation. 5 or 6 point harnesses, properly installed, are also required. “Properly installed” is a catch phrase that means they have to be used in conjunction with a seat that has BOTH pass through holes for the shoulder belts and the crotch belts. This eliminates the use of an OEM seat since they may have a provision for passing shoulder belts through the head rest, but never have a hole for the crotch belt. Cutting the seats or sliding the belt over the front of the seat is not allowed. Properly installed roll bars and seat belts implies drilling holes in the car. A full roll cage is not required, but if you want to go that route, it will certainly meet our criteria.

Bump ... this is the last driving school for the season, so if you've been sitting on the fence, don't stay there and miss out
