Updated the Midnight Rules. These need to be followed or things will get worse.
MM Rules Revised
Midnight Madness Tech Rules and Event Guidlines (Revised)
First let me start off by saying that the last Midnigiht Madness was - with the exceptoin of a few minor, isolated instances - silky smooth. I only hope to expand apon that frame work and improve future MM's in hopes of raising the bar a bit for the local drift scene in the eyes of the professionals. That said, due to those handful of instances we were forced to sit and rework the majority of the rulings, the tech guidlines, general behavior guidlines and the reprecssions of not following the rules that are set in place.
I would like to start off with the Tech-In process of all drifting vehicles at MM as this is were the majority of the problems occured. The tech rules and guidlines are ion place to ensure that all paraticipating drivers remain safe and reduce the probabilitly of causoing harm to the drivers, spectators or any persons in the area.
The following rules are the law of the track and must be followed or you WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE AT MM!
TECH!
All cars MUST AND WILL be teched and approved BEFORE entering the staging lanes. When you get to the track, find a spot in the pits and stay there until your car is teched. If you have not been teched and are getting restless, find some one in a red staff shirt and ask them to tech the car for you. DO NOT take it apon your self to tech yours or any ones elses car.
1. Battery tie dows: YOU MUST HAVE THEM!
Factory or after market battery tie downs must be in place and functional where ever your battery is placed. They should be strong enough to keep the battery in place and from tipping/spilling (even if you have a leak proof battery or solid cell) There is always the danger of it flying free of its respective housing and causing injury or damage.
1a. Battery Relocation: If the battery is moved from its stock location it may only be moved to the trunk and it must be secured in a battery box.
If it is moved to the trunk it has to be secured with metal to the metal. No nylon or other such straps can hold your box in place and no zip-ties, bungies, etc. Bolts please!
The battery box can be any type of automotive or marine box wich can be had for $10 or $15 from Walmart or Autozone.
2. All lug nuts must be in place and tight. We will check them.
3. Hand/Emergency brake must at least hold the car in place. Hydro's are the exception but they must be free of major leaks internal and external.
4. Ball joints and tie rods must me in good condition and free of excessive play.
5. Break pedal must have firm pressure with low fade.
6. Tail lights and break lights must work (especially for tandom runs) but we can make exceptions as this is not too critical.
7. Your seat(s) must be stable and properly secured in the car.
8. You must have functioning 3 point seatbelts for all seats that hold drivers/passengers or no less than a 3pt harness. The exception would be a car that only came with lap belts, but when will we ever see that?
9. Your car must be free of excessive fluid leaks.
10. All loose items must be removed from the interior of the car or secured under the seat or away from the driver. This goes for engine bay and under car also.
Please secure any loose itmes that could become hazardous to you or spectators or other drivers. Broken suspension parts must be replaced, not zip tied, but body panels (with in reason) can be held on with zip ties, etc.
Codes of Conduct on and off the track
Gateway has been very gracious to extend to us the opportunity we have before us. They have given us the area, the safety equipment and the coverage at very little cost to you. From here it is up to us and us alone to make it run better, faster and stronger. We are the ones who have the power to turn it into a more professional event for all to enjoy. We have very few and simple rules to follow and would appreciate your cooperation in following and enforcing these rules. They ensure that the night is fun, fair and safe (as safe as this shit can possibly be)
Please read carefully.
1. New rule starting now! The pits and staging areas are OFF LIMITS TO ALL NON DRIVERS/STAFF/PROMOTERS.
Due to the recent influx of spectators (especially drunk ones) getting in the way of cars entering and exiting the track and generally being in the way in the pits, not to mention the possibility of damage to a car by a spectator, the pits and staging lanes are going to be physically seperated from the spectators area.
The area around the gate and main K-rail, where show/display cars (Dewey, Kyle, Scott) park extending over to the staging lanes and back to the front side of the pits will be sectioned off as a spectators area. There will be a table at the gate and all who enter will still be required to sign a waiver.
The pit will have its own gate for cars to enter/exit. The rule is 1 driver, maximum 2 crew members. That is all. The drivers are asked to sign in and will recive a wrist band and two wrist bands of a different color to give to crew members. We would even ask that drivers and pit members stay clear of the staging lanes.
2. THREE LAPS IS THE RULE. That includes your lap out of the gate.
If you fail to abide by this you will sit out a rotation and if you continue to ignore the rule you will be asked to leave.
3. Tandom runs. Caged cars only!!
4. Staging lane etiquette: When you line up, be respectful of other drivers and keep an eye on the line. Keep your car moving!
Do not wander so far that people are forced to move your car or wait.
Also pay attention to who ever is working the start gate. Proceed only when given the go-ahead, come in when you are called, and if they tell you to do something, do it.
5. Keep your arms, legs...what have you, in the car when drifting. We are getting a lot of trouble from Gateway over this. Just do it.
6. DO NOT Stage your car until you are teched in by a staff member.\
These rules will be followed from now on. Anyone going against these will be given one single warning. You will be ejected if you disregard after the first warning.
Staff members are as follows:
ME( Scott)
Kyle
Adam
Andy
Tony (terrorist)
Rion
Justin (BlacktopBomber)
Joey(Terrorist's right hand)
