blood, sweat, and farts. the track hatch.

Post by Clayton »

my track car otherwise known as project mayhem. over the years i have invested my life into this car and it is apart of me. most of you know me and can vouche for the love i have for every componet of this car. there comes a time in a mans life when he decides he wants more. the engine that i originally put in was the crvtec. it was not a monster by any means but it was pampered and in turned it was so reliable everytime i hit the key it fired up and was ready to go. i never had a problem with it the 5 years it was in the car. i will never forget what that engine has done for me and hope the new owner pampers it like i did.

most of you all know what i decided to buy to replace my engine, but you all wanted proof. i bought the infamous itb engine sharpie built but couldnt handle. the engine was built right but it needed to be improved on. everythign on the engine was a mess when i got it. front crank seal was bad making a groove in the crank. had to replace the seal and of course there was no sleeves available to take away the groove but thankfully the new seal was off set enought that it was far enough away from the groove. to take that off i had to take the timing belt off. well the belt was on since the motor was assembeled and showed a little sign of wear so it needed replacement in my eyes. then came time to swap the engine into my car. everything went in smooth until the wiring harness. the harness i had in my car i wanted to use as it is perfect so comes the day to start it up and it didnt act right it was idling at 2200 and was not responding well. further diag led me to putting the old harness out of his car in mine and that solved one problem as it fired right up and idled like a boss. ok cool so go to lean in the throttle and boggs of fucking course. bought a laptop to hook up the smanager for the s300 to further diag that problem. found that the tps input was shorted to ground. while taking off the non honda tps sensor the connector fell apart in my hand great (ordered the new hall effect tps from twm) fixed it for now but will be getting replaced next week. now that we have tps signal why would the map be working have power and ground but of course the signal wire was shorted so i had to fax that as well. fml. get all that fixed and while messing with the dataloggings i messed up and wipped out the tune so had to wait till tony can get it to me (had a response in less than 5 mins with the file he is awesome). fired it up last night and it revs and idles like a fucking baus now. i leave for michigan friday 6/20 for the west michigan honda meet, talk about waiting to the last minute to get everything working perfectly.

cant thank John at Lowe for all his knowledge and texting me till the wee hours of the night telling me how stupid i am and that i am doing things wrong, and tony at t1 for his fast responses getting me what i needed when i needed it.

I could handle it on the street but it was too much engine for the route I'm going with the car.

I'm glad you got it in and good to go.

Very nice!
2008 Chevy Slobalt
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps
