2006 Honda Ruckus Build

Over the winter I tore down the ruckus to start a rebuild on it. The main focus for the rebuild is to powder coat and paint pretty much all of it, and do some minor upgrades without spending a shit ton of money.

I finally got all the equipment together to start powder coating at the end of January, which I have been wanting to do for quite some time. I figured the ruckus would be a great oppurtunity to learn and experiment with powder coating.

This is the stage it was at before I tore it down

Here is a pic from one of the last rides I went on this past fall with my mom's ruckus... She sold her 1986 Harley at the end of the summer and picked up this really nice 09 ruck with under 2k miles on it.

Here are the majority of the parts I will be re-finishing

Painted the front frame section wrinkle black

sanded the battery box, also cut hole to mount the gauge flush... also made templates and cut out holes for the s2000 side markers

primered... ready for paint

Then I knocked out some powder coating... I decided to go with a candy turquoise, not only because i like the color but it is a 3 coat process for powder coating and it would be a good challenge for me. For the base coat I used a silver, then applied the candy turquoise, and finally a clearcoat.

and then i got a little carried away... lol

this is a black powder coat with hella metal flake in it... more of this later!

The next couple photos are of the black powder coat with about 3 or 4 different colors of metal flake in it... its very hard to capture the effect of this color in a single photo.

No, I just wanted to focus on refinishing everything and do some little mods to make it look cleaner. I did put on a different exhaust.

Who knows, as this year goes on I just might get a couple things to make it quicker.
