Back in the game, on a real tight budget.

Post by honduhej1 »

Hey everyone. I have been recently lurking again on the site, and it sparked my interest to start a new project. its been about 3 years since I had owned a Honda, and since I got a job at Leta a few months ago, i was looking at Hondas all day, new and old, it made me really want to drive something fun again. I had a Jaguar X-type which was traded in for a 09 accord. My wife needed something bigger since we have a daughter that is almost a year old now. And I searched craigslist for a decent DD/ possible autocross car. I found it. A 1993 Acura Integra GS with 100,000 miles on it. Although I do not have any pictures from the day I bought it, I will explain. It was lowered on skunk2 springs, with tenzoRRRRR "time attack" wheels that were 17's. The car according to the seller was painted by the previous owner to "match" the wheels. It was rattled flat black on certain parts of the car and other parts were just faded. < Holy story right. Now for the current state. I did alot of searching, and im on a very tight budget with a child and trying to buy a house soon ( keep that in mind ). I know what parts and things I want to buy for this car, and should be done within the next month or so. Parts that I have purchased already are Schroth Rallye 3 Harnesses, HKS high power, and BWR test pipe, OE rotors and pads as well.

Repainting the car was my main priority for this car. That and getting seats and seat belts that actually worked. The stock automatic belts weren't working properly, and the dc integra seat rails didnt match the mounting holes in the car. yeah i know you can drive with them like that, but in my opinion that will never be safe.

SOOOOO here are the pics that I took today. This paint job is a Rustoleum Rattle can job. I did alot of prep work, and alot of wet sanding/ buffing, to get close to the results that i have gotten. It still needs a little more buffing, but I ran out of sunlight, and there will always be another day. Im on a budget, and all in all this was a good car to make a learning experience out of. I spent maybe $120 for all of the materials, paint, and an orbital buffer. Its not a show car, or ever will be. when its done, it will be driven. alot.

The bumper trim and hatch are getting repainted as well, along with new side moldings.

Let me know what you think, or have any questions. I dont really care if i get trolled either. Thanks guys, and ill keep this updated with the progress.

Andy.

Looks good! It's nice to see someone actually take there time and mask everything off before spray painting their car. What do you do at Leta? I work at the Acura store.
