my first turbo build

Post by wolf95 »

Well guys... after 5 different D series setups in my sol I've decided I'm going a different route...

plans
95 honda del Sol Si
powerplant plans:
b18C1 swap (purchased)
Wiseco pistons/eagle rods
ACl bearings
ARP head studs (came with block)
port and polished head
Nice aggressive cam with probably supertech valves/retainers
GSR transmission (purchased)
Eldebrock intake or Custom intake
Drop engineering mounts
turbo kit

engine bay:
Aluminum 2 core radiator (have it)
Chase bays full brake line kit
everything else is already tucked and shaved
No A/C, P/S, CC, etc..
remove heater core/blower motor/etc... (done)

interior:
Airbags removed (done)
all sound deadening removed (done)
custom gauge mounting (still working on decisions)
all unecessary accessories removed
stock interior otherwise
B&M short shifter with ES bushings (installed)

Suspension:
Energy suspension master bushing kit.
New coilovers-- either PIC or what one o my buddys has... keep forgetting the name...
New rims.. I was thinkin slipstreams or something off the wall depending on cash..

Exterior:
Painted... FINALLY!! Arctic white all around
Front bumper shaved (almost done)
Type R lip (purchased)
Ebay black housing headlights with amber corners (purchased)
MAYBE some painted CF pieces again depending on cash.

GOALS:
Low and slow!! mudguards scraping but 350-400 hp after turbo. I also want it to weigh about 2400 lbs... we'll see how well THAT goes... lol

any comments/complaints/help with my build would be greatly appreciated. I'm puttin ALL my other cars on hold to get this done. I'm currently on the saving stage but if anyone finds any good deals lemme know please.

got the trunk stripped. I might leave it like that and spray it considering I probably won't be using it much.

Got the motor torn apart and there was a HUGE glop of sludge dripping out of the pickup tube.... and I found out this motor's been rebuilt before with ACL bearings and ARP head studs... another thing this guy didn't tell me when I bought it. I found out why it wasn't getting compression though..

I've read on there that ring lands are the first thing to go on a stock turbo GSR build. Well I guess I've got proof. 3 out of the 4 pistons had broken ring lands.. Go figure. Do I see an Eagle/wiseco build coming???

picked up a B series T bracket & DOHC del Sol shift linkage ($160 shipped), and a 96 gsr transmission ($280)

a checklist for myself for what I still need/want:
clutch set
OBD1 VTEC gsr distributor
B series starter (not sure if they're all different)
axles and intermediate shaft
Hondata S300 with ecu with GSR basemap
B series Drop engineering motor mounts

and for the motor build:
Wiseco piston/eagle rod combo
ACL rod/main bearings
Block bored/honed/decked/cleaned/ and rotating assembly balanced
Head port & polished
Supertech valves and retainers
Cams (haven't decided what kind)
OEM full gasket set
Turbo kit

for the chassis
Chase bays master cylinder and prop valve relocation kit
OEM disc brake prop valve
body work and paint
rims

If anyone has good deals on any of these let me know and I'll budget for them. Thanks for lookin!!
