The ridiculous amount of shit i did in and to this car is really just plain stupid and moronic lol.... at this point just so i dont loose your attention ill start using pictures to tell the story
(also since apparently all my other threads on this car all seem to suffer from a photobucket issue.. this will be a start to finish build thread")
ok i purchased the car from a fellow non car guy who happened to own it just as a DD... funny thing is he purchased it from a buddy of mine who was a car guy lol damn kevin bacon of the honda world.
this is how the car was the day i purchased it super clean car very lightly modded:
-89 civic HB std
-DOHC ZC swapped
-MPFI converted
-intake
-dc sports header
-exhaust
-ls meshies
-Recaro se seats
-crx dash

I drove the car like this for a cpl weeks before the modding bug hit bad, i had been driving my crx still at this point so i really did want to mod the car much AND i technically had bought the car for my GF at the time so the car was supposed to be for her. Well that whole thing changed when i thought my motor in my crx was going bad and i decided to part out the crx and started driving the EF till my new project car got running (i had picked up a eg to replace my crx). When i parted out my crx i had kept anything that was interchangeable with the civic.
So began stage one for the modifications:
-Skunk2 coilovers
-Rota Group n 15's
-Modified password JDM CF front lip (j's racing replica)
-yellow fog lights (that jdm look lol)
-Amber corner lamps (not from the crx, ebay purchase lol)
-Tint

At a point during my ownership of my crx i had purchased the infamous "b16 swap in a box", basically was anything and everything to do a b16 swap into a ef which i got on the low low from a fellow member way back in the day. The only thing was that the motor was in multiple pieces and need some reassembly to be made into a good running reliable motor.. so i had put the swap on hold and had built my d16 for my crx instead. Well since i sold the crx i now had a full b16 swap begging to go into something.. but i was still stuck on the motor needed assembly. We after conversing with a fellow member we both realized we had something the other wanted, i had a perfectly good running zc swap and he had a fully assembled b16a from JDM land just chilling in his shed needing a new home... so we made the exchange.
Stage 2: the beginning of my B series hell
-pull the zc swap
-assemble b16 swap parts
-wire tuck
-battery relocated
-fuse box relocated
-engine bay clean up
start with this

do this

some of this

some assembly of this thing

finish up some stuff and polish it up and you get this

and then have potts take kewl pics and you get this

Well this was it for a while.. i really dint do much to the car other then put in a really nice stereo, redid the headliner in suede, did some little touch up stuff. The car honestly was purfect for the most part, the b16 ran it's balls off was 90% reliable day in and day out and continued to surprise me at how much fun the car was to drive. And then my very avg looking HB was forever changed lol, i had purchased some red gt3's for my eg project and i never had any intention of them ever going on my EF until one night i noticed i had belts showing on my group n's and i had to drive to washington, MO to pick up a dog crate....so i tossed the GT3's on the hatch and decided to take some pictures (after i picked up the dog crate of course)
Stage 3:
-Rota GT3's red polished lip 16x7 +38
-repainted the side moldings and bumpers with trim black

and with this picture the reign of the "Hotfire hatch" began (lawl)

At this point a group of us started to attend Gateway raceway's Test N Tunes to see how our cars actually did at the track, My full weight + stereo system ef hatch apparently was good for 14.7 all day long on street tires... go figure
plus i randomly got to the finals of the street car shoot out lol

Ok well i think i drove the car this way for a while before the speed bug hit, this entire time ive been driving the car i had yet to dip into my "b16 swap in a box" parts pile, in this pile i had a fully built b16 head with all skunk 2 valve train and skunk 2 pro cams... well one afternoon i decided to swap the heads and start having some fun with making more power, well we swapped head's and some where along the line ther was a timing or tuning issue with the new heads and cams... so i took the car over to lowe performance to have it tuned... well due to a mechanical timing issue they were unable to tune the car... unfortunately on the way home the bottom end developed a rod knock
Stage 4:
-Rebuilt B16 bottom end with ITR pistons
-Fully built skunk2 head with tuner series cams

engine bay touch up

and boom she was back in action again, drove to atlanta perfectly (other then a broken axle mid way) and made good power..... untill lol approx a month after this when shit went bad. I was out running around in the car one night doing hwy pulls messing with the vtec and settings on my vafc when i wasn't paying attention and bounced the motor off the rev limiter in 3rd gear(8500), well i hit the clutch dropped it into what i assumed was 4th let the clutch out and pegged the rev limiter (the 9999 on the vafc about made me sick) as i realized i had put it into 2nd instead ... i quickly hit the clutch and let the motor idle down .... everything seemed fine.. no missing, motor reved up and ran perfect like it had never happened... i drove the car around for another 30 min and decided to head home. I left the car parked all night then in the am on the way to work i ran to st charles to drop off something, as i was getting onto hwy 370 to head to work .. disaster stuck, apparently i had weakened a valve from the previous nights over rev and it choose to let go right as i was getting on the hwy.
Stage 5: carnage

I pulled the head and thats what i found... i wanted to cry, new bottom end trashed, fully built head destroyed... every ounce of hard work put into the car once again all for nothing... frustrated was a understatement at that time. I spent ALOT of time figuring out where to go with this, what to do .. what now.... and where was the money going to come from to fix it yet again...
The car sat for a a while while i contemplated everything... and after i time i decided if i was going to do it again i would do it big.... the 3rd coming would be a 200+whp LSvtec build

I had also scored a set of Work equip 03's for the car (15x8 +35's with 205/50/15's)

Simply awesome and beautiful.. the best the engine bay ever looked and simply the most content i could have ever been with the car .... had i never started it. Motor never ran...correctly, the machine shop overboard the cylinders out of round and it took me tearing the motor down twice and 2 different heads to figure this out.... i was devastated, i had 5g in this motor and it was nothing more then a giant boat anchor.. it would never run right and was totally fing usless on every level. This unfortunately was the straw that did break the camels back. I had it i couldnt take the bad luck this car was making so i was done... i purchased a stock obd2 ls motor, converted it to obd0, got the car running right cleaned it up and put it up for sale.
Stage 7: Defeat

minus the seats and a cpl minor things this is how i sold it to Liquor assassin roughly 3 years ago....
Now this brings us up to date on my ownership of the car prior to the sale, during justin's ownership many things happened to the car or was done to the car......the next portion of this build will cover the things that will need to be done or changed to get the car back to my standards and to revive the "Hotfire hatch"
(and im going to put this disclaimer in right here so EVERYBODY SEE'S... this is not a bash anybody thread or to talk down on anybody, alot of things happened to the car while in justins possession and im not blaming him for any of it .. i am simply going to document the stuff that will need to be repaired.. so no finger pointing will be done, so if you choose to make comments on anything after this point .. please be considerate and refrain from any rude or snide comments please and thank you)
Stage 8: assessing the damage
Well i finally took some pics of the car in it's current state uploaded them to photobucket and here we are
*WARNING NOT FOR THE WEEK OF HEART*

freshly washed by my awesome GF

yea she's seen better days... needs a SOLID cleaning inside and out, needs 2-14" tires so i can put the hub caps back on, needs rust fixed, paint, bumpers refurbished, engine bay to be completely gone through and repainted again... uggg well now i just need to find the time and money to start making moves fwd on the car yet again. I'm not mad at the previous owner, shit happens and im not pointing fingers.. i know i can fix all this and make it better then it ever was before and i will... it's just going to take time
