I've never replaced one on a Honda, but on my Plymouth its very easy.RSXSLVR79;90170 wrote:
-Car needs a thermostat-how hard are they to install and how much do they run?
- First drain your radiator.
- Unclamp the hose that goes from the top of your radiator to the top of your block.
- Peel the old thermostat off, the gasket will probably be shot so make sure to get a new gasket when you get your thermostat.
- Clean any gunk off of your engine block from the old gasket.
- Go up to Auto-Zone or O'reily and tell them what you need, it shouldn't be more than 25$ with a gasket. (It should be a 180 or 190 degree)
- Get some gasket sealer and put it on the block where the gasket seats, dont get any in the hole where the coolant goes, then put some on the end of the thermostat that touches the gasket.
- Put the thermostat on and push it tight you don't want that to leak.
- Put the old hose back on, clamp it, refill coolant and you should be good to go.
Again, I did this for my Plymouth, but it should be generally the same with all cars, unless something is in your way that you might have to take off to get to the thermostat.
Good luck,
