Okay....picked up my new wheels on saturday and threw them on. Honestly, at first I kinda liked them in red.

Then the more I looked at them, the more I hated the red. Too flashy for my tastes I guess. So......Sunday I took them off and sanded, taped, primed, and painted them gloss black with the polished lip. Sanding that red edge between the tire and lip of the rim was a huge pain. 3 of 4 done on that and the last one I'll do tonight.
I haven't put the wheels back on yet because my PIC's are scheduled to be here tomorrow. I'll throw the wheels on once she's tucking a little tire (and hopefully not rubbing).

Alright. Here's a snap of the wheels now that they are in black. I made the stock centercaps from the steelies work with some hefty modification.

Oh, yeah, and I have a few spots around the edges that need to be touched up still but I'll get to that later. Somehow a little paint got under the tape in a few spots so I'll have to sand that off (ugh...more work).

This car is coming along nicely. And you can get a cluster with a tach and swap speedometers very easily. That way you have a tach and can keep up with the original miles on the car. If you want detailed info on how to do it send me a PM.CleanGSR;153202 wrote:I really want to swap in a cluster that has a tach in it, but don't want to lose the cluster that says 045723. I'm thinking about getting a small 3" or so tach and finding somewhere inconspicuous to mount it.

You mean odometers? I can get a cluster with a tach and swap my odometer into the new tach? If so, I had no idea you could do that, so that's cool.JustRob;153815 wrote:This car is coming along nicely. And you can get a cluster with a tach and swap speedometers very easily. No, you swap the speedometer. The odometer is a part of the speedometer so you just swap the complete piece into the new cluster. Then you'll have a cluster with a tach and still have the original odometer.CleanGSR;153833 wrote:You mean odometers? I can get a cluster with a tach and swap my odometer into the new tach? Here's an update. Got the PIC's tonight and got them installed (took just under 2 hours for all 4....not bad). Threw the wheels on after the suspension. Here's 3 pics of it in the garage.

Oh....no rubbing at all with it this low and I haven't rolled any fenders. However, the mudflaps rub even pulling out of my garage. I have about 1/2 - 1 inch of clearance on the mudflaps. I'll have to cut them or something to make them work.
As you can see...I have a couple things left to do. Clearly you can see some red behind the spokes so I'll have to pull the wheels off and paint the backside at some point. Also I need to level out the suspension. It's within an inch or less difference all around but I still need to get it "right" (when it warms up).

looks nice. just let the splash guards scrape, they'll wear down and shorten themselves lol.
